How much rock does a pallet or truck carry?
A pallet of flagstone or ledgestone is palletized mostly at 1.5 - 2 tons each (3000 - 4000 lbs.). For delivery of retaining wall stone, a tandem truck carries approx. 13 Metric Tonne, a truck and pup carries approx. 26 Metric Tonne and a Tridem-Axle + Quad Axle End-up Trailer carries approx. 40 Metric Tonne.
How much do I have to buy?
Retaining wall stone can be purchased in any amount that you like (full load, half-load, etc). Pallets of flagstone or natural stone thin veneer are sold in full pallets only, in most cases.
How much is a ton? 2000 lbs per ton.
Can we pick the rocks we want?
Retaining wall stone can be personally selected at the quarry only if you arrive and load your own truck, if arranged through our office. If a machine at the quarry is required to assist in sorting or loading, a $140/hour machine rate will be applicable. Flagstone and natural stone thin veneer come as is on pallets. Even though the beauty of natural stone is that of natural variance, we take special care to make sure that you are fully aware of what you are ordering.
Do you deliver?
Yes. Delivery is available. Our local Firestorm quarry welcomes you to arrange your own trucking also, if you prefer, although delivery is available for all natural rock products.
How much time do you need to setup delivery?
For our Firestorm Granite retaining wall stone, we can accommodate same-day ordering although one to two days in advance is great whenever possible. Flagstones, Ledgestones and natural stone thin veneer most often require 5-7 days for delivery to your project. It makes it easier on everyone involved if there is a comfortable time frame to work in. Talk to us if you need it sooner and we'll work hard to accommodate your schedule.

It depends upon the amount and type of stone and location.
How much does each rock weigh, or how many are in a ton?
It varies greatly because there are many different sizes or grades. For example, we have six different sizes of Kendall Ledge flagstone alone, which allows a range of 30 - 200 square feet per ton. A second example is of our Firestorm Granite retaining wall stone which varies in size from 12-18" hand-size to 4 ft. plus rocks. The weight for a hand-size rock may be 30 - 150 lbs while a 2-3 ft rock may weigh 1200 - 2000 lbs.
How much stone will I need for my project?
Estimate how much stone you will need by measuring your square footage, which is length x width. This applies to walkways, patios or walls too. Since there are different thicknesses of the stone and depending on the application it can vary quite a bit.
When I order flagstone, how much should I order to make sure I have sufficient stone?
To make sure you have enough stone, a percentage should be factored in that you may or may not use. Full pallet orders are necessary for flagstone and thin veneer. Retaining wall stone can be ordered as necessary.
Do you sell crushed gravels or other ground cover?
No crushed gravel is available from our quarries.
Do I have to arrange unloading of flagstone at my project with my own forklift or boom truck?
Either way. If you are able to arrange the unloading of flagstone or thin veneer pallets at your project that is great, although most customers prefer for our office to arrange and take care of scheduling efficient and safe delivery and unload, usually with a boom truck. Retaining wall stone does not require any specific unloading machinery.
Do you design or install?
No, but we would be happy to pass along a recommendation of designers, installers and contractors.
